The inspiration for Fifty is taken from the Flag Halyard chair, the easy chair made from metal and rope that was created in 1950 in Denmark by Hans Wegner. Fifty's back was created with side panels by the headrest to inspire feelings of privacy while relaxing, reading, or even watching TV. 350 meters of black, brown, or grey cord are woven onto a black steel frame. The Fifty chair has a sculptural presence that will attract attention because of the unexpected juxtaposition it poses between the minimalist design of its steel frame and the artistic warmth of the hand-woven rope. Seat and back woven using 350 meters of polypropylene rope, dyed all the way through and treated to resist UV rays. A seat/lumbar cushion in 'Dry-Feel' foam may be ordered. This foam has a completely open cellular structure which facilitates the clearing of humidity, thus reducing the drying time and avoiding the development of mildew. This cushion is fitted with black cords with which can be tied to the armchair frame to hold it in place |
