Fergus references the popular Scottish clan name Ferguson whose Gaelic meaning is angry, audacious, and proud. The Ferguson clan is known for helping to popularize tartan. Amongst Celtic peoples, Tartan is a typical motif, and it is described as a wool based material with a pattern of crisscrossed horizontal and vertical lines in a range of colors. Tartans were originally seen only on fabric but are now used on many other materials. Scottish kilts are almost always made in a tartan-patterned fabric. Hand tufted rug in 100 % wool (tufted in certain areas/sculpted in others). The fringe is a continuation of the motif. There are no equivalent shades amongst the pompom rings. The length of the fringe is 8cm which yields an overall dimension of 216 x 316 cm (85 x 124 inches). |
